Accepted that getting beaten up is part of my job.

Well you see I did but not straight off. I’ve given up smoking. I didn’t do it successfully in January but as 2008 ends I can say I’m entering 2009 as a non-smoker. Of course, we’ve still got 20 days of 2008 left so things could change!

Oh yes indeedy! Oh my god… I’ll be 53 and then 56! Shit!

Okay, I’m going to say no as I don’t recall anyone close to me dying but I’d like it noted that should I have forgotten I will feel very very guilty about it. There may even be tears!

I used to but since moving to Ireland there aren’t that many drive-thru’s or burger bars near us so I don’t anymore.

Erm… dunno. Only one passionately – and that would be Brad but as for other kisses (pecks on the cheek etc) I’ve got no idea.

Were you happy when you woke up on Sunday?
No. The first time I was woken up was at 5.14.am. For some reason the fucking dogs were going mad, barking at the wind and the rain as though that’s going to get rid of it! I got up, had a look out the front, then the back and could see nothing but rain and wind! Okay so I couldn’t see the wind but I could see the tree’s bending over more than I do on a Saturday night so it had to be bad! The dogs had stopped barking by this point as they could hear me walking about but the second I got back into bed they started again. They soon stopped and I went back to sleep. When I woke up again I had a bladder the size of Loch Corrib and the toilet seemed like miles away! I was wishing Juzzzy’s wee hose was a reality! So no, I wasn’t happy when I woke up!

How about now?
Not in a great mood no. Had a lovely dinner with the Duggans yesterday but I have things on my mind that I can’t get rid and it’s damn annoying!

Yes. At college it was a weekly thing when out drinking and was never really a pleasant experience for those watching on.

I’d like to think I was but in reality I’m probably not. I think friends would be better at answer that one than I am.

Erm… Daywatch I think. I know it’s been a while since I’ve been to the cinema but if I remember rightly it was Daywatch. This is the sequel to Nightwatch (the Russian one not the Ewan McGregor one) and is damn good!

The thing that has fucked my mind up. Sadly I can’t and won’t be telling you what that is.

Do you eat sweets on a daily basis?
No. I actually don’t eat a lot of sweets. When your father is a wholesale confectioner and you spend you life surrounded by jelly, hard-boiled or chocolate sweets you kind of get sick of them. Chocolate is my thing but I don’t eat a lot of that anymore.

Oh yes! When I sent all those out late last year it was fantastic to get replies. I think I might send some more out, not so I can get them in return but just because it’s nice to receive them (I think) and I like doing nice things.

Walking into a party, what’s the first thing you notice?
I try and look at how people are dressed to know whether I’m under or over dressed. I seem to spend an age trying to decide what to wear, starting a few days before the actual event usually. Of course, if it’s a big party or a special occasion then that means going out and buying something new which means shopping at least two weeks before hand and then hoping I don’t put any weight on! (fucking miracles there!). I spent hours going round the shops sorting out and outfit for my 2007 birthday when I was going to meet other bloggers! I still looked like a sack of spuds but I felt good!

The day before my first date with Brad I was ordered by my friend Dave not to kiss or “put out” for a good few weeks as that way I’d know it was right! I lasted until the second date – which was the next night.

I’ve learnt a couple of things. Firstly that often all it takes is an apology and things can be sorted. Secondly I’ve learnt how to work out who I can rely on and who I can’t and I think I’ve got a pretty good idea of that now.

I don’t actually remember much about this year. I was 18 as the year started, in a job I hated even if the people were great, in a relationship I was bored with and still grieving. By the time the year ended I was 19, in job I hated even more than the other one, in a different relationship I was even more bored with and still grieving.

It wasn’t as bad as it sounds. I had some great friends and rarely spent a night at home. I was earning more than I knew what to do with and was spending on people I’d known days. I spent my life in night-clubs and bars, falling out of one door and into another. I knew so many people on the scene that whenever I went out I could be sure of spending the night with a bunch of acquaintances.

I was stupid and reckless. I walked around as though the world owed me something when in truth I probably owed it a lot more. I had airs and graces I didn’t deserve but no one seemed to question it.

I had no plans for my future because in my head I had no future. Where I am today proves how wrong I was then!

I was a mess.

It would be two years before things would start to sort themselves out.

1. What’s the longest period of time you’ve gone without sleep?
I used to work for the British Red Cross and we gave first aid cover to the Gods Kitchen global gathering at Long Martson airfield. We arrived on the Friday morning to be there for the set up. This was the year when Brian won Big Brother and after watching it I sat up all night with a guy called Mike, just chatting. I got about an hours sleep that night but was then awake from early Saturday morning straight through to Monday as the event starts, went on then wound down. Due to the lack of staff shifts differed between manning an ambulance, manning control, staffing the main post and patrolling the ground. Very tiring but still a lot of fun.

2. When was the last time you googled your own name?
About a month ago I think.

3. What was your least favourite subject at school?
Geography. I hated it!

4. If you could have one piece of legislation passed into law, what would it be?
Full gay marriage. Not just this “Civil Partnership” crap!

5. Have you ever tried origami?
Absolutely. I can make a picture frame and teeny tiny little lucky stars.

Okay so this was quite difficult to do as every time I thought of a character from a film I pictured the actor that played him and couldn’t distinguish between sex with the character or sex with the actor. I decided it was for the actor and dismissed a lot of them so after much thought this is my final list. Most of them are the character but the odd actor did slip through.

1 Johnny Storm – Ignoring the fact he was played by Mr. Evans in the film, even in the comics he was always the sexiest.

2 Inspector Gadget – I think sex would be quite clinical and boring and to the point but with all his extras I’m sure he’d keep me entertained

3 Dennis Rickman – Okay okay so this one is definitely for the actor. So be it.

4 Elmer Fudd – Not attractive in the slightest but the stupidity of being dressed as a female rabbit because apparently he finds them attractive.

5 Claudio – From Much Ado About Nothing by Mr. Shake-a-spear. The way he talks about his love for Hero is so romantic and often reminds me of some of the ways Affleck talks to me.

6 Jesus – Yes I do think he’s fictional and I think it would be hilarious to say I’d had him.

7 Azrael – From Dogma. As much as I try to deny it this is probably down to Jason Lee.

8 Aladdin – From the Disney film. Good body!

9 Avatar/Ranger/Chicken Chaser – Whatever name you get for him from Fable.

10 Martin Fowler – Yes for the actor but I’ve spent an hour trying to think of number ten and getting a bit pissed off!

My questions came from stubbleupdate and the answers are as follows…

1. What’s your first purchase in Monopoly?
The first things I land on. Although I do strive to buy Park Lane and Mayfair. I don’t get to play too often though as Affleck is a bad boy when it comes to Monopoly. If he doesn’t get Park Lane and Mayfair he has a right strop. He starts offering you deals that you know better than to accept as he’s just gonna do all he can to stick house and hotels on them and then kick your ass. If after about four or five offers you still haven’t given up those two allotments then the board goes up the air, houses end up in eyes, dice embedded in walls and it’s off for an early bath.

2. who actually are you? age, job, etc?
Good God, where do I start? Well I’m Paddy… and/or Landers… I’m 32, nearly 33 *sigh*. I live in Llanfuckwit, South Wales with the lovely Affleck, two dogs (Eddie and Hillie the Border Collies), a myriad of tropical fish (including two Siamese fighting fish, a couple of sharks, some angel fish, some tetras, a gold fish, a knife fish and some others things). In four weeks time I shall also be the proud owner of a little baby kitten, as yet untitled but it’ll more than likely be Margot as we already have Jerry. As for a job, well I’ve gone from Freelance Journo to author to floor/stage manager to nurse to film director to foster carer. I’m currently trying to write another book but not getting on too well and I’m also trying to get my first feature length picture off the ground so I don’t have to do any more shorts.

A picture of Winston Churchill eating fish & chips, wearing a “Kiss Me Quick” hat, sat under an umbrella on a rainy afternoon.

I’d like to go for a leek or a dragon or even a sheep but I guess they’ve already been done so instead I’ll choose just a simple glass of water. Clean, fresh, free from crap and 100% natural and refreshing.

My ideal life would involve sitting at home, having an coffee in the morning, Affleck brings me the post and together we go through the scripts that have arrived and decide which I’m going to do and which I’m not. Once that is done I open up the Mac, check my mail, reply to some friends emails and the get a phone call from my mother to say she’s leaving my dad.
